Pierre Guillaume Wielezynski (call him PG) is the Deputy CIO at the UN World Food Programme (WFP), the world’s largest humanitarian agency, operating in over 80 of the most difficult countries worldwide. PG works with the global IT network to implement the organisation’s strategic priorities, ensuring IT delivers technology solutions in an ever changing humanitarian context. His particular focus is on Business Engagement, Architecture and Solutions Delivery. PG has spent the past 15 years at the intersection of human development, marketing and digital technologies. Before joining WFP, PG was a victim of the first dot com bubble crash and found refuge at the World Bank in Washington DC where he spearheaded a number of initiatives in online marketing and digital product development.
PG lives in Rome, Italy with his wife and two children.

Tom Gertin

Tom Gertin is a Geospatial Information Specialist with the Humanitarian Information Unit in the Office of the Geographer and Global Issues (INR/GGI) at the U.S. Department of State. At the office he works on MapGive, supporting humanitarian and development projects to use OpenStreetMap. He also works on Secondary Cities, the office’s field-based mapping initiative.
Lauro Rossi

Environmental Engineer, expert on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), with special focus on Decision Support Systems and Early Warning Systems for disaster management, he manages CIMA Research Foundation major projects linking IT technologies with earth science. He has skilled work experience in international DRR projects aimed to improve technical capacities and strengthen institutional and operational framework in also challenging contexts. He is the development coordinator of the “RASOR” platform for rapid multi-hazard risk assessment. Team leader for the design and technological development of several ICT platforms for DRR: “Dewetra”, weather-related risk prediction and prevention operationally used by the Italian Civil Protection; “Opera”, for use of satellite imagery in flood risk management, funded by the Italian Space Agency. Research activity on decision support system for natural risks management. Author and co-author of several papers and international conference proceedings.

Senior Software Engeneer at GEM Foundation since 2012, with a strong background in C/C++ development acquired in 10 years of private sector. Free (as in speech) software and open-data enthusiast, currently is working on OpenQuake platform, a collaborative web environment based on GeoNode, coding in python and other usual web-related languages, he is also in charge of packaging GEM software.

Cristiano Giovando is a geographer and advocate of open data and open source geospatial software. At the World Bank he works on OpenDRI, promoting the use of community mapping methods for local preparedness and disaster risk management. He previously held scientific and technical roles at the EC Joint Research Centre and the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team.

Eng. Alessio Fabiani is a Software Engineer, co-founder of GeoSolutions S.A.S., with more than 10 years experience in C++, Java and Python development, currently working as Software Engineer, Technical Lead and Team Leader at GeoSolutions.
Involved in many worldwide relevant GIS OpenSource projects, core developer and member of the projects management/steering committees, like GeoServer, GeoTools and GeoNode.

Emlyn Hagen

Dr. Emlyn Hagen is the iMMAP Disaster Risk Reduction Program Lead and manager of the Afghanistan Spatial Data Center. Emlyn is a geospatial expert passionate about in providing feasible GIS solutions, focused on humanitarian and security products. With more than 10 years of industry experience, he has lead Shell Geomatics unit in Jordan for 5 years and worked for the NATO CI Agency since 2007.
His nominated research includes Communication Access and Proximity Maps in Jordan and the Afghanistan Flood Hazard Map. Emlyn was born in Belgium; he acquired his PhD at the NUS Singapore and MSc at the University of Munich.
Francesco Bartoli

Telecommunication Engineer, security and spatial IT geek with opinionated mind to open source software. Hugely passionate lover of mountain activities and landscape. Francesco is the founder and Chief Technical Officer at Geobeyond. He started GeoAvalanche in 2013, a spatial data infrastructure for snow avalanche information which is based on GeoNode and now he is an actively contributor.

Environmental Engineer and Ph.D. in Geomatics with passion for Geospatial Open Source Software, Simone is working at the European Commission JRC based on the lake Maggiore in north Italy where he is in charge for the web geospatial systems in support of the Copernicus Emergency Management Service activities. Simone is a GeoNode core developer since 2011 and OSGeo Charter member.

Paolo Corti

Paolo Corti is currently working as a Geospatial Engineering Fellow at the Center for Geographic Analysis at Harvard University in the context of the WorldMap project, based on GeoNode. He is an environmental engineer who has been working as a geospatial analyst and developer for the EU Joint Research Center, the UN World Food Program and the Italian Government.
He is an OSGeo Charter member and member of the GeoNode and pycsw PSC.

His academic interests include event data and intrastate/internationalized armed conflict, with a focus on conflict contagion.
