Overview
Users should be able to upload data through a web form, selecting files on their computer and putting them on the GeoNode. Can start with just shapefiles or geotiffs, just using web forms. In the future a flash upload tool could be nice.
Use Cases
1) Nancy is a humanitarian worker, and she is trying to figure out where to fund building of a new well. She has a colleague who does GIS, so she asks Jim for data on wells. Jim emails her a shapefile, which she double clicks on to no avail, as she has no GIS program. She remembers that she has access to a GeoNode, logs on to her user account, and uploads the shapefile. Then she can see it online, and share it with others.
2) Jim is a GIS pro, but doesn’t understand how to stand up web services, and has no access to an ArcGIS Server. He gets an email from Nancy for data on wells. Instead of emailing her a shapefile like he did before he knew about the GeoNode he uploads his shapefile directly to a GeoNode. He styles it a bit, and then sends her a link to see the data online, and also a link to view it in Google Earth.
